Stop Doors Slamming With Our Door Checks & Dampers

Our new range of Justor door checks are designed to prevent swing and sliding doors slamming shut. The door checks hydraulic damping controls a doors closing speed during the final 10 degrees of closing. The door check also secures the door in its final closed position, preventing wind forces opening the door. Slam Proof stock a range of adjustable door checks for different size doors, also stainless steel versions are available for external doors and mounting accessories for use on sliding doors.

Slam Proof Adjustable Speed Pedestrian Gate Closers

The new adjustable speed gate closer has a variable hydraulic damping level which provides greater control over the gates closing speed. By rotating the adjustment collar the gates closing speed can be increased or decreased as desired. The adjustable speed gate closers are suitable for use on a wide range of pedestrian gates and are recommended for use on gates with magnetic locks.

Pool Gate Closers


Slam Proof hydraulic gate closers can be used to securely close pool gates and improve pool safety. Unlike self closing spring hinges the Slam Proof gate closers don't slam the gates shut, but firmly close the gate at a controlled speed which prevents the risk of injury and reduces noise. Slam Proof gate closers can be fitted to commercial or residential pool gates manufactured from steel, wood or vinyl. The popular GC-19-300N is suitable for closing gates up to 1.2m wide and weighing up to 50kg. For larger gates we recommend the GC-22-500N, which is suitable for closing gates weighing up to 100kg. The closing force can be easily reduced using an adjuster tool and mounting brackets are available to simplify installation.

Rubber Air Spring Bellows

Shock Absorbers, Buffers & Dampers for Lifts & Elevators

Slam Proof supply a large range of deceleration products designed to improve passenger and freight elevator safety. Below is an overview of the available product groups:

Hydraulic elevator shock absorbers are mounted at the base of an elevator shaft and function as a safety device in the event that the elevator car or counter weight travels past the final stop position. During impact the shock absorber gradually brings the elevator car to rest significantly reducing the forces generated. For lifts and elevators with low impact speeds (less than 1.2 m/s), we offer a range of polyurethane elevator buffers. The durable microcellular construction provides the buffers with a high rate of energy absorption and makes them maintenance free. Elevator shock absorbers and buffers both conform to lift guideline 95/16/EC.


Our hydraulic door dampers are commonly used to decelerate an elevator door before its final position, providing the door with smooth and controlled movement. The door dampers are adjustable which allows the compression speed to be easily set and are available with a spring or magnet return to reset the piston rod. 

Deceleration cylinders can be used to safely control the opening and closing speed of doors and maintenance hatches, as well as limiting swinging and oscillating movements. The deceleration cylinders are adjustable and available with speed control in both directions of travel (compression and extension) or single direction (compression or extension) to suit the application requirements.

Hydraulic Speed & Feed Controls

Single acting hydraulic speed controls are ideal for precision drilling, cutting, grinding and sawing by providing a constant rate of damping through the complete stroke in compression. The feed rate can easily be varied by turning the graduated dial adjuster situated at the rear end of the speed control. Models are available for controlling high feed forces up to 10,000N and with stroke lengths up to 150mm.

Double acting speed controls provide precise and continuous control over the complete stroke in both compression and extension (note: single acting versions are also available). Common uses include controlling the speed of linear slides, pneumatic cylinders, turnstiles, swing doors and rehabilitation exercise equipment. Models are available with stroke lengths up to 500mm and can control forces up to 20,000N.
